Abstract

PURPOSE: To evaporate liquid sealant used in conjunction with underground city gas pipes with a relatively little energy and to ensure safety of operation by heating the sealant after evaporation and by avoiding high temperature associated with the operation.
CONSTITUTION: Yarns 4 are stuffed between the inner face of a joint socket 3 and outer face of a transfer pipe 1. City gas coming from a guide pipe 19 is mixed with liquid such as ethylene glycol which has been atomized by an atomizer 7 to seal the pipe 1, and is discharged into another guide pipe 6. An inductive heater 6 provided midway in the pipe 6 then heated the atomized ethylene glycol paricles. The distance with which the ethylene glycol travels through the pipe 1 and a pipe 2 is controlled by the degree to which the etylene glycol is heated. One side advantage of using an inductive heater is that the surrounding areas are not heated excessively.
