Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a display error or a recording error of an optional character, by providing a optional character pattern generating device on plural units, and setting them optionally so that a desired optional character can be processed.

CONSTITUTION: A depressed key signal of the standard character input key group is converted to a character code by the standard character input circuit 30 and the encoding circuit 31, and a key signal code of the optional character input key is generated by the optional character input circuit 32 and the encoding circuit 33. The signal which has been encoded by both the circuits 31, 33 is stored in the memory 34 in order of input, the output data of the memory 34 is stored temporarily in the buffer 35 at every one character, whether it is an optional character code or a standard character code is detected, and in accordacne with the result, each code controls the gate 38 or the gate 39, and it is provided to the standard character pattern generator 40 and the optional character pattern generator 42. And, the stored data of the buffer 35 is compared with the output data of the generator 42, by the comparator 31, if there exists a unit code or not is watched, and in case of coincidence, the gate 39 is opened, and in case of dissidence, the reporting circuit 43 is operated, by which a display error is prevented.
