Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled material that is composed of an MnZn ferrite obtained by adding Y2O3 to a base material comprising MnO, ZnO, Fe2O3, thus being used of a magnetic head with low vibration noises, when a magnetic tape is made to slide on it.
CONSTITUTION: An oxide magnetic material that is composed of an MnZn ferrite that is prepared by adding 0.1W5.0wt% of Y2O3 to a base material comprising 21W 36mol% of MnO, 13W25mol% of ZnO and 50W56mol% of Fe2O3. The addition of Y2O3 in the range cited above reduces noises caused by sliding of a magnetic tape, when it is used for a magnetic head. When the addition exceeds 7.5%, both of the noise characteristic and permeability are lowered and the performance is not developed as a magnetic material.
