Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable correct connection to be accomplished by disposing an ultraviolet curing adhesive to the connecting part of optical transmission lines, and irradiating ultraviolet rays thereto in a correctly connected state to set the adhesive while checking the optical connection state thereby fixing the optical transmission lines. CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers 1 and 2 to be connected are connected and disposed on a connecting table 3 by way of an ultraviolet curing type transparent adhesive 4. The light of a light source 5 is fed to the fibers 1, 2 via a change-over device 7 and the connected part is so adjusted that the output of a detector 8 assumes a maximum or correct value, after which the light source 5 is changed over to an ultraviolet light source 6 by the change-over device 7 to irradiate the adhesive 4 through the optical fiber 1 and allow the adhesive to set. At this time, it is equally well to irradiate the ultraviolet rays from the outside of the optical fibers 1, 2. Thereby, the correct connection of the optical fibers 1, 2 may be accomplished with good efficiency.
