Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain high impact resistance at low temp. by controlling rolling finish temp. to specific temp., cooling the steel down to 300 deg.C at specific cooling rate after finishing of the rolling thereafter cooling the same down to ordinary temp. arbitrarily and tempering the same at specific temp. CONSTITUTION:In production of low temp. steel contg. 6-10% Ni, the rolling finish temp. is controlled to 750-1,000 deg.C, and immediately upon finishing of the rolling, it is cooled down to 300 deg.C at >=0.3 deg.C/sec mean cooling rates. Thence, it is cooled down to ordinary temp. at arbitrary cooling rates and is tempered at 550- 620 deg.C whereby the low temperature steel having high impact resistance at low temperatures of -100-200 deg.C is obtained.
