Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the decomposition of night soil or the like, by providing an aeration vessel with a mechanism for generating a complex turbulent flow, and returning precipitated sludges and floating scums from a precipitation vessel to the aeration vessel.
CONSTITUTION: Night soil is preparatively aerated in a modifier A, and carried to a primary aeration vessel B1. The primary aeration vessel B1 is provided with a cylindrical center tube 8 concentrically. Nets 8 are stretched at flanges of upper and lower side ends of the center tube 6. The upper and lower nets are symmetrical vertically. The nets occupy nearly half of an area of the vessel. Another net member 10 is placed in a space surrounded with the nets 8, so as to form a stationary filtering bed 9. A complex turbulent flow is generated in the vessel by air bubbles from an air injector 2 and the stationary filtering bed 9. This complex turbulent flow is effective in improving an aeration effect. A secondary aeration vessel B2 has the same mechanism. The night soil, after treated in these aeration vessels, is carried to a draft tube of a precipitation vessel C. Precipitated sludges are returned through a suction opening 18 to the primary aeration vessel, while floating scums are returned to the same vessel by a skimmer 19. After a predetermined time, the treated solution is carried to a sterilization vessel D, and then discharged as purified water.
