Abstract
PURPOSE: To cause a spraying material consisting of a refactory agregate and a carbonaceous resin to adhere to furnace wall with good workability as well as to inpart excellent hot strength and excellent slag erosion resistance to the furnace wall by spraying the spraying material with O2 gas or an O2-rich gas to the furnace wall.
CONSTITUTION: A spraying material is made up of a refractory agreegate of a basic refractory material particularly, e.g., magnesia clinker, and a carbonaceous resin, e.g., petroleum or coal pitch or tar pitch, having a softening point of 300°C or less, and then the spraying material is sprayed with O2 gas or an O2-rich air, etc., onto the walls of a furnace for repairing. In this method, the wall of the furnace is not cooled as in the case of the conventional method using water because the bonding mechanism of the spraying material relies on the fusion of the carboneous resin used, and also the corrosion resistance of the spraying material is raised because the carbonaceous resin serves as a supply source for a large amount of carbonaceous component. In addition, the adhesive property of the spraying material can be largely raised because O2 is used in spraying the spraying material.
