Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate occurrence of defects in welding by detecting arc voltage or welding current and outputting a burn through signal when the width of variation of the detected value exceeds previously set upper limit value and lower limit value.
CONSTITUTION: When the welding current becomes lower than the lower limit set value due to arc break or burn through a comparator-discriminator circuit 3 acts to give an output pulse to a holding circuit 4. The holding circuit 4 holds the pulse signal (a) for a fixed time after the input is made. On the other hand, when the welding current exceeds the upper limit set value by contact of wire with the base material after an occurrence of arc break and burn through, a comparator-discriminator circuit 5 acts to give an output pulse to a holding circuit 6. The holding circuit 6 holds the pulse signal (b) for a fixed time after the input is made. When the width of variation of the welding current becomes greater due to burn through, a coincidence circuit 7 acts to recognize burn through by the output signal (c) and actuates a condition change circuit 8 and a buzzer 9.
