Abstract

PURPOSE: To lower the level of the suction and exhaust noise by forming the end of suction and exhaust pipes by using a concentrically double tube so that the interaction between the straight gas flow from the inner tube and the spiral gas flow from the outer tube prevents the generation of a turbulent flow.
CONSTITUTION: An end 1a of an exhaust pipe 1 is formed by using a double tube 5 which is a concerntrically fitted combination of a cylindrical inner tube 3 and outer tube 4. The gas passage in the inner tube 3 is formed into a straight passage 6 parallel to the axis, while the gas passage in the outer tube 4 is formed into a spiral passage 8. The exhuast gas having passed through a silencer 2 is divided into two at the end 1a to flow through the inner tube 3 and the outer tube 4 respectively, and then discharged from the exhaust pipe 1. On doing this, the exhaust gas flowing out of the straight passage 6 forms a straight flow which is liable to generate a turbulent flow. However, the exhaust gas flowing out of the spiral passage 8 forms a spiral flow which has a strong rectilinearity and never generates a turbulent flow. Therefore, the interaction between both gas flows prevents the exhaust gas flowing out of the exhaust pipe 1 from generating a turbulent flow.
