Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a simple-structure and low-cost detecting element for the flammable gas along with a high heating efficiency, by using the resistance element having the positive resistance temperature characteristics for the heat generator and then providing the flammable gas sensitive substance on the said resistance element via an insulator.
CONSTITUTION: The Al2O3, ZrO2 and the like are flame-sprayed onto heat generator 3 which uses the resistance element having the positive resistance temperature characteristics and composed of the semiconductor oxide of the perovskite type structure (such as BaTiO3, PbTiO3, etc.), thus forming insulating ceramic layer 2. Furthermore, gas sensing element 1 composed of the material (like SnO2, ZnO, etc.) which varies its electric resistance value with a contact to the flammable gas is provided on layer 2. And then electrodes 4 and 4' are provided across generator 3; while electrodes 5 and 5' are provided across element 1 respectively. Thus a flammable gas detecting element is obtained.
