Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively produce titled lightweight, flame-retarding, heat-insulating panel, by heating, foaming and setting by high-frequency heating a soft urethane foam panel which has been impregnated with an alkali silicate and silica stone powder.
CONSTITUTION: Silica stone powder is added to an alkali silicate solution and is stirred to form a viscous solution. A soft urethane foam panel is immersed in this viscous solution or a solution prepared by diluting the viscous solution with water, to fully impregnate the panel with the solution. Then, the excess solution is oozed out by pressing. Next, this impregnated panel is placed and heat-set in a high- frequency heating furnace. During the high-frequency heating, the inorganic substance foams within foam cells, so that the original open cells are converted to closed cells and a fireproof panel excellent, as a whole, in heat insulation is formed.
