Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a magnetic material from being rotated integrally with a cylindrical body by the attractive force of rotary magnetic field and efficiently separate a nonmagnetic conductive material and a nonmagnetic nonconductive material in waste by providing a magnetic seal to the upper part of a cylindrical body. CONSTITUTION:This separating device 10 is constituted of a cylindrical body 12 which is open at both ends, a magnetic device 14 and a frame 16. The cylindrical body 12 assumes an angle theta1 with respect to horizontal plane, and is driven to rotate clockwise. The magnetic device has an outer race 44 in which multiple permanent magnets 46, 48 are buried in the inside circumferential surface and is driven to rotate counterclockwise. Of the mingled materials 36 charged into the cylindrical body 12 through a chute 38, the nonmagnetic conductive materials 42 such as aluminum deviate to the rotating direction of the magnetic field as eddy current is induced by the rotary magnetic field, and the nonmagnetic nonconductive materials 66 such as paper scraps and wood chips deviate to the rotating direction of the cylindrical body 12, thus they are ejected separately. Magnetic materials 40 such as iron pieces rotate integrally with the cylindrical body 12, but they are dropped onto an ejecting means 70 in a magnetic shielding part 68.
