Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a magnetic head using magnetic materials of a high saturation magnetic flux density, by causing a glass-reinforced material to adhere directly to one side face of the core consisting of metallic magnetic materials by fusion and by subjecting the core to heat treatment after working the core into a required track width. CONSTITUTION:Core 10 is sliced into a proper thickness from the block long in the thickness direction of the core and has one face 10a polished, and frit glass 11 is applied to the polished face thickly. After glass 11 is melted at a prescribed temperature and is bonded to core 10, glass-reinforced material 11 is polished into a prescribed thickness, and next, core 10 is shaped into a prescribed thickness. Next, core 10 is subjected to heat treatment at a temperature lower than the softening temperature of reinforced material 11 to eliminate processing distortion of core 10. Thus, a magnetic head using metal magnetic materials such as sendust of a high saturation magnetic flux density is produced. Since this head does not include organic adhesives and so on, troubles for tape feed can be prevented at a tape running time.
