Abstract

PURPOSE:To make axial alignment accurate and easy by passing the light signals of respectively different kinds to a central core and peripheral cores and so adjusting the multicore fibers that the light signals of different kinds taken out from the photodetecting side multicore fiber become respectively best. CONSTITUTION:Axial alignment is accomplished by opposing the end faces to be mutually aligned of the multicore fibers A1, A2 each provided with a central core b0 and peripheral cores b1-b6 surrounding this at the fiber section, then passing the light signal past the central core b0 and the light signals past one or more peripheral cores b1-b6 of mutually different kinds respectively from the one multicore fiber A1 to the other multicore fiber A2, and relatively moving both fiber ends in a circumferential direction or orthogonal directions such as horizontal and vertical directions or in each direction of these in such a manner that the light signals of mutually different kinds taken out from the photodetection side multicore fiber A2 become respectively best.
