Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the torque characteristic at the time of low speed driving of the turbine by controlling the main stream of a gas at the nozzle part of the turbine so that at the time of high speed driving the main stream flows into a part having a small inlet diameter and at the time of low speed driving the main stream flows into a part having a large inlet diameter.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas of an engine is introduced into a turbine scroll chamber 8, and is imparted with turning, and flows into a turbine wheel 15 through a nozzle part 17. A control groove 16 is formed at the nozzle part in the circumferential direction. The control groove 16 is led to a turbine wheel outlet by means of an inlet pipe 11, and a control valve 10 is provided in the pipe 11. By opening the valve 10, a part of the flow from the scroll chamber 8 to the nozzle flows into a suction gas chamber 9 from the control chamber 16, and is bypassed to a turbine outlet. Upon this occasion, the gaseous flow from the nozzle to the vane-wheel 15 is pulled by a flow designated by a reference numeral 14, and does not come off but flows along the wall, and hence the lowering of the efficiency is prevented.
