Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform the optimum delay control of the transmision of suction negative pressure in accordance with the change of atmospheric pressure, by providing a bypass passage in a negative pressure passage so that the negative-pressure transmission delay device may be bypassed, and also by making a swtich valve to intervene in this passage so that it may be opened and closed in accordance with the change of the atmosphere pressure.
CONSTITUTION: Since a switch valve 12 in a bypass passage 11 in closed by an atmospheric pressure detector 13, when an engine is driven on a terrace, only an orifice 10a in a negative-pressure transmission delay device 10 is employed to transmission of the suction negative pressure, downstream a throttle valve 2. Consequently, the amount of delay of the negative-pressure transmission is increased by the portion of the discharge from an orifice 14 in the bypass passage 11. As a result, the negative pressure is further delayed in transmission to a negative pressure chamber 7e located in a secondary-air control device 7 in accordance with the decrease of suction negative pressure during the operation on a terrace, and when the engine is accelerated rapidly on terrace, supply of secondary air can be maintained for a certain time during the initial stage of the acceleration. This contrivance ensures the purification of HC and CO in the exhaust gas increased by any rapid acceleration.
