Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the waveform of the output voltage by employing an exciting armature coil provided in the self-excited AC generator in addition to a main armature coil independently as an exciting power source thereby preventing the influence to the main circuit at the time of commutation of a commutator having control poles. CONSTITUTION:The exciting armature coil 6 is independently provided in the AC generator 1 in addition to the main armature coil 2. The voltage generated in said exciting armature coil 6 is supplied to a field coil 3 via a thyristor 4, which is controlled in response to the output voltage of an automatic voltage regulator 5 which senses the AC generator 1. Since the thyristor 4 is separated from the main circuit, and the influence of the thyristor 4 at the time of commutation is not transmitted to the main circuit, a smooth sine wave is obtained as a waveform of the output voltage of the main circuit. This can be also applied to the exciting apparatus of a diesel AC generator which is used as a precision power source for computer power sources and the like wherein noises should be absolutely avoided.
