Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate and quicken a fermentation by performing active fermentation in a primary multistage vertical type fermenter and then by performing slow hopper type.
CONSTITUTION: Sewage, etc., are supplied uniformly at the uppermost stage floor 4 of a primary multistage vertical type fermenter 1 through feed conveyor 5 from feed port 2 via throw-in device 3. Stage floors 4 are provided vertically at required intervals in plural stages and opened and closed by rotative or shaking device to drop the sewage on the uppermost stage floor onto lower stages while it is shifted successively. During this, the inside of fermenter 1 is maintained at an aerobic atmosphere to perform active fermentation. The sewage after the primary fermentation is changed to the plural parallel secondary fermenters 7 selectively and successively by way of conveyors 11 and 6, and distributing conveyor 8. Since angular regulation boards 9 preventing compaction are arranged in each fermenter 7, the aerobic atmosphere is maintained and slow fermentation is carried out. Further, fermenters 7 are used also for storage tanks after the secondary fermentation.
