NEW MATERIAL:N-(6-Deoxy-L-tolosyloxyhydroxyphosphinyl)-L-leucyl-L-tryptophane shown by the formula. Having the following properties. Elementary analysis: C 56.60%, H 8.21%, N 9.31%. Molecular weight (mass spectrometry): 543. Melting point (di-cyclohexylamine salt, C=0.5, water): 153W156°C (decomposition). [α]D21=-25.6° (di-cylcohexylamine salt, C=0.5, water). Positive in Rydon Smith reagent, etc.
USE: A remedy for an infectious disease by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and an inhibiting substance of a metal protease as a growth regulator for microorganisms.
PROCESS: An actinomycete belonging to the genus Streptomyces, e.g., Streptomyces morzuensis AJ 9406 (FREM-P 4589, NRRL 12054), etc. is subjected to aerated cultivation preferably at pH 5W9 at 15W40°C. Isolation is then carried out by extraction, dialysis, distribution, etc.
