Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform photobranching having versatlity with small insertion loss and to miniaturize and lighten the device by providing a fan-shaped reflecting surface whose central axis is the original point in the middle point of two cylindrical focusing light transmission bodies with 1/4 pitch length which are arrayed so that their center axes coincide with each other, and connecting plural optical fibers to both ends. CONSTITUTION:The two cylindrical focusing light transmission bodies 10 and 11 with 1/4 pitch length are arrayed so tht both center axes coincide with each other and the fan-shaped reflecting surface (for example, a fan-shaped reflecting surface with an angle of 90 deg.C) consisting of a dielectric multilayer film is provided to the middle point of these transmission bodies. Or reflecting body 21 with reflecting surface 20 attached to one surface of a glass plate whose refractive index almost equals to that of the center axes of light transmission bodies 10 and 11 may be inserted. The center positions of both light transmission bodies 10 and 11 are fixed respectively and optical fibers 30-33 are connected to both ends. The light propagated through optical fiber 30 is reflected by reflecting surface 20 and is incident to optical fiber 31 and at the same time a part of reflected light is incident to optical fiber 32. Thus, it makes possible to reduce insertion loss and perform versatile photobranching by the miniaturized and light-weight device.
