Abstract

PURPOSE:To get uniform distributing light power with low loss by arranging lenses, fibers and a reflecting element in the same surface in case of mixing all input light signals from an optical data bus system and branching them into plural optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:An optical star coupler 20 is composed of an inpur fiber, a one- dimensional lens 8 which makes the outputted light of the fiber 1 parallel light only to the X direction, a relecting element 10 with 2 reflecting sides parallel to the Y direction which reflects the light obtained after passing through the lends 8 totally and mixes the light only to the Y direction, a one-dimensional line 9 which focuses the light obtained after passing through the reflecting element 10 only to the X direction and forms the images like a band in parallel with the optical axis surface of the one-dimensional lens 9, and plural output fibers 5 arranged on the same surface as the position of the band images. Thus, if a sufficient long reflecting element 10 is used, the optical power makes the images approximately uniformly. In addition, the constitution can be changed by attaching a tatal reflection mirror on one end of the reflecting element 10 to reflect the light.
