Abstract

PURPOSE: Triphenylmethanol, being advantageous for a starting material, is made to react with 1-nonsubstituted-1,2,4-triazole in the presence of a trivalent phosphorus oxyacid ester to give 1-triphenylmethyl-1,2,4-triazole used as an antimycotic agent.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction of (A) a triphenylmethanol with (B) 1-nonsubstituted-1,2,4-triazole is conducted in the presence of (C) a trivalent phosphrus oxyacid ester at 60W120°C to produce 1-triphenylmethyl-1,2,4-triazole. The trivalent phosphorus oxyacid ester is, e.g., phosphorous acid aryl ester or alkylphosphonous aryl ester, but triphenyl phosphite and diphenyl phosphite are preferred. The molar ratio of compound A to compound B is 1/(1W3) and compund B/compound C is 1/ (0.5W 3.0).
