Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the Ti clad steel of good joint characteristic, by putting the Mo foil on the CR-plated face of Fe to diffusion-weld it and by putting Ti on the surface of this Mo foil to diffusion-weld it.
CONSTITUTION: Cr is plated on Fe, and the Mo foil is put on the Cr-plated face to diffusion-weld, ander the condition of 10-4Torr evacuation atmosphere, 900W 1,100°C heating temperature, ≥0.5kg/cm2 applied pressure, ≥10min pressure time. Next, Ti is put on the surface of the diffusion-welded Mo foil and it is diffusion- welded, for example, 10-4Torr evacuation atmosphere, 700W1,100°C heating temperature, ≥0.1kg/cm2 applied pressure, ≥10min pressure tim, thereby producing an object Ti clad steel. As a result, the joint of ≥14kg/cm2 ASTM shearing strength superior in strength can be obtained.
