Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generatin of the roll mark in the steel strip, and to obtain good dull surface, by injecting the temper rolling mill oil from the backside of the work roll reversely to the running direction of the steel strip into the gap between the work roll and the backup roll. CONSTITUTION:The temper rolling mill oil headers 7, 7', and the wiping air headers 8, 8', are installed on the backside of the work roll 2; the temper rolling mill oil is injected from the upper and lower temper rolling mill oil headers 7, 7', into the gaps respectively of the upper and lower couples of the work roll 2 and the backup roll 3. The temper rolling mill oil sticking upon the work roll 2 is squeezed under a high pressure on the contact surface with the backup roll 3, and a very thin oil film is formed on the surface of the work roll 2; the strip 1 passed the work roll 2 is rapidly dried up by the air wiping. It is desirable to install an oil catching trough 9 in order to flow out the injected temper rolling mill oil into both sides of the work roll 2; besides, it is also desirable to install the scraping knife 11 in order to touch the work roll 2 and to scrape the oil out of the surface of the work roll 2 for helping the air wiping work.
