Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of the thyristor and the erroneous firing of the same by providing an additional exciting circuit for applying excitation for supplying turn-off pulse and the excitation of the same polarity to a pulse transformer for a predetermined period. CONSTITUTION:Turn on pulse and turn off pulse are supplied through the pulse transformer 6 to the gate G of the gate turn-off thyristor 5, thereby driving the gate of the thyristor 5. There are also provided additional exciting circuits 9 and 10 for applying excitation for supplying the turn-off pulse to the pulse transformer 6 and the excitation of the same polarity as the excitation therefor during the period from the turn on pulse supply starting time or at latest between its supply stopping time and the subsequent turn-on pulse supply starting point. When setting phim (magnetic flux) <Ket [(constant)X(pulse voltage)X(pulse width)], there can be prevented the generation of a voltage in reverse polarity to the pulse existing immediately before cutting the pulse off when cutting the pulse off.
