Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an ultrafine fiber suitable for suede fabrics, etc., by forming a composite fiber from specific two types of fiber-forming thermoplastic polymers, and dissolving or removing one component through decomposition after the melt spinning.
CONSTITUTION: Two types of fiber-forming thermoplastic polymers A and B which are capable of crystallizing and orienting at a spinning take-off speed of 3,000m/min or higher are melt spun and combined to form a composite fiber having a composite cross section in which the component B is divided into plural parts by the component A at a take-off speed of 3,000m/min or higher. The resultant filament yarn is subjected to a high-degree processing step without a drawing step, and the component A is dissolved or removed by decomposition to give the aimed fiber. Polyethylene terephthalate or a polyester consisting of it essentially is preferred as the component A, and nylon 6, nylon 66 or a polyamide consisting of them essentially is preferred as the component B.
