Abstract

PURPOSE: To melt spin ultrafine multifilament yarns of fineness ≤0.7de stably without gelation or uneven thickness, by using a spinneret comprising orifices divided in a specific manner, and a cylindrical quenching unit.
CONSTITUTION: A synthetic polymer, e.g. polyester or polyamide, is melt spun through the spinneret 1 comprising 100 or more orifices 2 grouped into the 6 or more, preferably 8 or more, fan-shaped blocks 3 with an interval W or 1.5 or more, preferably 2 or more times, the orifice distance d between the closest ones in the circumferential direction at a speed of 3000W4000m/min to give undrawn ≥100- filament yarns of fineness ≤0.7de. The yarns are guenched by a cylindrical unit.
