Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce variance in product quality by arranging an electric-resistance heating element of thermal resistance around a feeder head part and by heating and heat-insulating the feeder head by its Joule heat. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal injected from a ladle into a sprue 3 enters mold gap part 2 by way of weir 4 and then enters feeder head parts 5, 6 and 7. Electric- resistance heating element 8 having heat resistance, arranged around feeder head parts 5, 6 and 7, and fed with electric current to generate Joule heat, heading and heat-insulating feeder head parts 5, 6 and 7. For electric-resistance heating elements 8, refractories including conductive carbon, graphite, etc., are used. This system provides easy temperature control because it is heated electrically.
