Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an effective seal device which permits forming a gaseous sealing film, by combining together a ring plate which is to be set on a rotational side of a mounting section, and a grooved ring which contains an H-shaped ring therein and which is to be set on a non-rotational side of the mounting section, and introducing compressed gas into the seal device after it has been set in the mounting section.
CONSTITUTION: A seal device consists of a ring plate A, an H-shaped ring B and a ring C having a groove in which one side portion (right-hand portion) of the H- shaped ring B is fitted. The ring plate A is disposed on a left-hand surface of the H-shaped ring B. The grooved ring C has compressed air inlet ports 3. When a compressed gas is introduced into the grooved ring C via the ports 3, the H-shaped ring B is pushed to left to be brought into close contact with the ring plate A. When the H-shaped ring B has been brought into close contact with the ring plate A, the compressed gas flows out from gas vents 1... provided in the H-shaped ring B, to be discharged outside through a gap between the ring plate A and H-shaped ring B. Thus, a gaseous film having a sealing effect can be formed.
