Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a seal ring from an unstable vibration when an inner gas has a high pressure by a method wherein a shaft diameter is made smaller at a lower pressure side in the seal ring at the atmospheric air side, and together with this, a gap between the shaft and the seal ring is made small.
CONSTITUTION: A gas side seal ring 4 and atmospheric air side seal rings 5W7 are installed between a casing 1 and a shaft 2. Among atmospheric air side seal rings 5W7, for a seal ring located closer to the low pressure side, the shaft diameter thereof at the part mounted with the corresponding seal rings is made smaller. Along with this, for a seal ring located closer to the low pressure side, the gap between the seal rings 5W7 at the atmospheric air side and the shaft 2 is made smaller. The pressure difference between the seal ring 5 at the high pressure side and an intermediate seal ring 6 can be made very small accordingly, and the seal rings 5, 6 can easily follow after the shaft 2, thus, a shaft function becomes extremely inactive, thereby preventing unstable vibration.
