Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent seal effect by providing one or a plurality of grooves with labyrinth effect on the contact face of a seal ring in a retainer, in order to construct a pressure reducing chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Grooves 10 are provided on the periphery 1A a seal ring 1. For example, when the pressure is higher on the left side of the seal ring 1 than on the right side, the gas is conducted from the face 1B side of the seal ring 1 to leak through a gap between fitted faces 1A and 4A, and suddenly expanded in these grooves 10. Consequently, the leaked gas is reduced in its pressure to lose its energy, and further conducted from these grooves 10 through the gap between fitted faces 1A and 4A on the right side. This construction permits to reduce the leaking force of the gas and obtain a so-called labyrinth effect.
