Abstract

PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a battery when the battery is used as the electric power supply of receiver, by cutting off the electric power supply to the prescaler of a PLL frequency synthesizer when an automatic tuner enters the tuning state. CONSTITUTION:When the transmission frequency of a desired selected channel arrives from input device 9, PLL/AFT switching controller 16 sets the channel selector in PLL mode and also controls prescaler electric power supply controller 21 to supply current from prescaler electric power terminal 22 to prescaler 2. As PLL is placed in locked state, phase lock detector 17 controls controller 16, whose output sets the channel selector in AFT mode and also controls controller 21 to cut off the electric power supply to prescaler 2. Once the channel selector enters the detuning state, information on the detuning is obtained from output circuit 19 and with the output of controller 16, the channel selector is changed over to the PLL mode again. When PLL is locked, on the other hand, the AFT mode is set again and the electric current to prescaler 2 is cut off.
