Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to flow and pack molding sand even in the constricted portion or the like in a mold by providing vent holes communicating with the mold to a core box and introducing the molding sand into the mold while evacuating the inside of the mold.
CONSTITUTION: A sand lead-in port 3 communicating with a mold 2 is provided on one side of a core box 1, and plural vent holes 4 communicating with the mold 2 are formed on the other side. A vacuum pump 7 is driven to suck the air in the mold through the vent holes 4 and introduce shell sand through the sand lead-in port 3 while evacuating the mold inside. Thereby, the flow of the sand is created even in the constricted part 2a, by which scaffold is prevented and the shell sand is packed sufficiently into the mold 2. This method makes it possible to flow and pack the molding sand in the mold 2 irrespective of the presence or not of water- base coating film and even when there are constricted portions, thus the improvement in the core quality is achieved.
