Abstract

PURPOSE: A novel synthetic fiber for a wig, having improved slimy feeling unique to the synthetic fiber, and good properties for making various styles on making into a wig, and prepared by forming a smooth surface part continuous in the fiber axis direction and an uneven part on the fiber surface.
CONSTITUTION: A synthetic fiber prepared forming a smooth surface part continuous in the fiber axis direction and an uneven part on the fiber surface. Preferably, the uneven part occupies 25W50% the total surface area, and the maximum diameter in the protruded part to the minimum diameter part in the hollow part is 1.5W 1.05, the distance between the peaks of the adjacent protruded parts being in the range of 10W500μ. The fiber is obtained by extruding an acrylic copolymer containing a hydrophilic olefinic monomer having a sulfonic acid group into a coagulation bath of acetone and water, drying and recovering the fiber thus obtained under wet hot air from devitrification, and drawing and heat-treating the fiber.
