Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title polymer useful as a water treatment, scarcely sticking to the interior of a chrome-plated dryer, by drying the polymer in the presence of a polypropylene oxide with hot air under a shearing stress.
CONSTITUTION: Aggregated small hydrous masses of acrylamide polymer gel are dried with hot air in the presence of one or more types of polypropylene oxides of formulas I, II, and III: (R1 is a residue after removal of OH groups from a 2W4C saturated dihydric alcohol; R2 is residue after removal of OH groups from a 3W6C saturated trihydric alcohol; n, n1, n2, n3, n4, and n5 are integers) in a dryer, whose part in contact with the polymer is chrome-plated, under a shearing stress to give the objective dried polymer. The number-average molecular weight of the compounds of formulas I, II, and III is preferably in the range of 500W 5,000.
