Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the trap in a photoreceptor and achieve higher copying quality with simple constitution by adding the charging process of the polarity opposite from the specific polarity before or after the cleaning process.
CONSTITUTION: A destaticizing corona charger 8 which performs corona discharging of positive polarity and a lamp 9 which radiates even light are provided before and behind a cleaning device 7 which cleans residual toners, in opposition to a photoreceptor 1. The negative charge on the photoreceptor surface which has been chanrged to negative polarity till then is neutralized by the charger 8 and the zero potential shifts to the potential of positive polarity. The positive charge charged in the photoreceptor surface and the negative charge in the photoreceptor generated by the light radiation are coupled by the lamp 9 and the positive charge having been generated by the light radiation and the remaining charge having been injected into the photoreceptor and trapped are recoupled. As a result of this, the residual potential of the photoreceptor surface and the trap in the photoreceptor may be made smaller.
