Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a superior transferred image free of middle or edge whitening using a high resistance magnetic toner of one component type, by forming minute recesses not less than a specified depth made of a conductive material on the surface of a developing sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: In a transfer type electrophotographic process using magnetic toner T of high resistivity ≥1013Ωcm, minute recesses of depth ≥30μm are formed on the surface of developing sleeve 10 of developing device 4 by a sandblasting method or by firmly fixing an aluminum or iron powder with a conductive adhesive or heat fixing it. Thus, permitting a strong electric field to be formed between photoreceptor 1 and opposite sleeve 10, therefore, middle whitening that the middle part of an image is not developed, and edge whitening that the edge part is not developed to be prevented, and further, deterioration of cleaning performance, deterioration of durability of cleaning member 6, or other problems occurring in the case of forming minute recesses on the surface of photoreceptor 1 to be prevented.
