Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the operation by composing a sample holding part of a couple of parallel plates. CONSTITUTION:In sample vessel 1, a pair of transparent parallel plates 3a and 3b are stood in parallel being dipped at lower terminals to constitute sample holding part 3. One end of a bundle of optical fibers 4 is fixed to the outside surface of plate 3a, and one end of a bundle of optical fiber 7 to the outside surface of plate 3b. Consequently, liquid sample 2 is sucked up between a pair of plates 3a and 3b by capillarity and light from light source 6 having been transmitted through liquid sample 2 enters photoelectric detector 8 to display a detection output on meter 17. Then, liquid sample 2 is suced up by capillarity, and consequently while dilution is unneeded even when liquid sample 2 is extremely small in quantity, no troublesome operation such as sample injection is needed.
