Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the explosion as well as the corrosion and at the same time increase the detecting accuracy, by providing the light emitting and receiving fibers in the opposite positions to each other, eliminating the cladding of one of the opposing sides in the liquid amount measuring range to expose the core, and thus constituting a liquid amount detector. CONSTITUTION:The cladding of the single side is eliminated for light emitting fiber 2 and light receiving fiber 3 each in the measuring range of the liquid amount, and these fibers are made to oppose to each other along with the core exposed in liquid 7. The light led to fiber 2 from the light source disperses in liquid 7 since the refractive index of the liquid is larger than that of the core in liquid 7, and the dispersed light is then received at fiber 3. The received light is converted into the electric signal via the photoelectric converting element, and the amount of the liquid is displayed on the display unit. As the light is used in place of the electric signal, the explosion and the corrosion can be avoided, at the same time increasing the detecting accuracy.
