CONSTITUTION: Sintered ore 9 sintered with sintering machine 7 and crushed to suitable size with crusher 8 is introduced into cooler 1 and cooled. At this time, air is fed from a lowe part of pallet 6 of cooler 1 through cooling air duct 2 and passed through the sintered ore layer. This air is repeatedly passed from the ore discharge side to the ore feed side, and the resulting hot air is fed to waste heat boiler 3 to generate steam. By adding and burning coke breeze with hot air at the ore discharge side of machine 7 or the ore feed side point (a) of cooler 1, the temp. of the hot air is further raised to increase the amount of steam generated from boiler 3.
