Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the optical output of a fluorescent lamp by coating the inner surface of its bulb with fluorescent particles having an average particle size which is in a specific relationship with that of silicon dioxide particles. CONSTITUTION:Silicon dioxide 2 is first coated on the inner surface of a glass bulb 1. This silicon dioxide 2 is coated in a state dispersed, for example, in butyl acetate or pure water and naturally dried up so that its thickness corresponds to the weight of 10wt% of the fluorescent substance to be coated on it. Subsequently, the fluorescent particles 3 with an average particle size which ranges from 1/8 to 1/30 of that of the silicon dioxide particles is coated on the surface coated with the silicon dioxide 2.
