Abstract

PURPOSE: A fluorescent substance for electrostatic coating, capable of giving tubes and bulbs (B) for uniform light fluxes, with little variation in the amount of coating having improved adhesion to (B), by coating the surface of the substance with a binder and metallic oxide fine panticles in the order.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A fluorescent substance, e.g. YV PSiO4/Eu having an average particle diameter of 4μ, and (B) a binder, e.g. calcium barium borate having an average particle diameter of 0.8W1.0μ are suspended in an alcohol, and dried to coat (A) with (B). The substance is then coated with (C) metallic oxide fine particles, e.g. finely divided silica having an average particle diameter of 12mμ. The amounts of (B) and (C) are preferably 0.5W5wt% and 1W10wt% based on (A), respectively.
