Abstract
PURPOSE:To pelletize the subject resins at an improved yield rate, by a method wherein a molten strand of thermoplastic resins extruded continuously from an extruder is fed into a cooling medium, and is cut after being regulated by cooling within a given temperature range. CONSTITUTION:Thermoplastic resins fed through a material feed port 3 are softened by melting by means of a screw of an extruder 1, and a volatile matter is removed through a vent hole 4. A molten strand 5 through a die head 2 is fed into a cooling water bath to be cooled therein. The cooled strand 5 is then fed to a pelletizer 8 through guide rollers 7. A temperature of the strand 5 is further adjusted by cooling to a temperature range between 20 deg.C higher than a thermal deformation temperature of the resins composing the strand 5 and 10 deg.C lower than a fluidizing point. The resultant strand is cut by a cutting roll 9 to obtain desired resin pellets 10.
