Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate unevenness of the length due to cutting difect and improve the yield of the product by guiding the thermoplastic resin strands extruded from an extruder into the cooling water medium, and reheating and cutting them. CONSTITUTION:Thermoplastic resin to be pelletized which is fed from the resin raw material hopper 3 is molten and softened by the screw of the extruder 1 and volatile components are removed from the vent hole 4. Then, molten strands are guided from the die head 2 to the cooling bath 6, cooled, and cooled strands 5 are guided through the guide rolls 7 to the heater 8, reheated and cut by the cutting roll 10 of the pelletizer 9 and obtained as the pellet product 11. The temperature of said reheating is suitalbe to be about 20 deg.C higher than the heat deformation temperature of resin composing the strands are about 10 deg.C lower than the flow temperature.
