PURPOSE:To make it possible to control the degree of saturation automatically by exercising amplitude control oever a chroma signal level while keeping constant a burst signal level as to a chroma signal including a burst signal. CONSTITUTION:Input chroma signal 10 enters voltage variable gain amplifier 12, from which it is led out as output 11 with chroma signal amplitude determined by control voltage 16 and, at the same time, applied to filter 13. Filter 13 determines whether the magnitude of a chroma signal level is judged by the mean value of the chroma signal or by its crest value. Burst signal sampling circuit 14, when filter 13 judges the chroma signal, samples a burst signal included in the chroma signal. Amplitude amplification control gate 15, when performing saturation degree control operation by the above-mentioned judged chroma signal level, exercises the amplitude amplification control only in a chroma signal period and is closed in a burst period. Thus, the automatic saturation-degree control circuit can be obtained which can suppress the chroma signal level within certain range.
