Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a gain control circuit with a few adjusted points by leading the output of a variable gain amplifier out via a nonlinear circuit and then by using it as a gain control signal. CONSTITUTION:A pre-emphasized signal, supplied to the input of compressor 30, is amplified by variable gain amplifier VCA33 and its amplified signal is applied to adder amplifier 42 via resistance 37 and also to level detector 35. The output of level detector 35 is converted by nonlinear circuit 36 into nonlinear one, which is used as a gain control voltage for VCA33. The input signal is applied to adder amplifier 42 via resistance 43 and added to a signal gain-controlled by adder amplifier 42 to obtain a desirably-compressed signal.
