Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable flaw-detection for steel materials whose shape of cross section is round, polygonal, etc. by a method wherein a double coil is formed by winding two conductors several times with a pitch of λ at intervals of half of the length of the prescribed wavelength λ and two conductors are connected with each other to form terminals.
CONSTITUTION: A bobbin 6 made of highly-heatresisting insulation material is wound movably along the outer periphery of an inspected material M and further two conductors 7 and 8 are wound several times on the bobbin. On the occasion, the interval between the conductors 7 and 8 is set to be half (λ/2) of the wavelength λ generated in the inspected material, while the pitch of two conductors is made to be equal to the wavelength λ. Moreover, the starting end 71 of winding and the final end 72 thereof of one coil of the double coil are connected with the final end and the starting end of the other coil respectively, whereby terminals 70 and 80 are formed. The cross-sectional shape of the coil is formed in accordance with the inspected material and a high-frequency power source 9 is connected to the common terminals 70 and 80, whereby the surface wave 5 of an electromagnetic supersonic wave is propagated to the inspected material M and thus the flaw-detection becomes possible.
