Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a latex, excellent in low-temperature heat sealability and blocking resistance, by mixing a low-temperature heat-sealable vinylidene chloride copolymer latex, with a copolymer latex of high vinylidene chloride content, which acts as a nucleating agent.
CONSTITUTION: A vinylidene chloride latex, excellent in heat sealability, blocking resistance and gas barrier properties, is prepared by mixing a latex, containing 100pts.wt. of a copolymer composed of 70W85wt% of a vinylidene chloride, 10W 28wt% of a vinyl chloride and 2W20wt% of at least one monomer copolymerizable with them, and giving a coat of a sufficiently low temperature at which the heat sealing will start, with a latex, containing 0.5W10pts.wt. of a copolymer composed of 94W100wt% of vinylidene chloride and 0W6wt% of at least one monomer copolymerizable with it, and acting as a nucleating agent.
