Abstract
PURPOSE:To supply a gate pulse to all thyristors in a module and to prevent breakage of the thyristors by a method wherein each forward voltage signal sent from a forward voltage detecting circuit provided in thyristor modules is processed by an ''or'' circuit. CONSTITUTION:Valve 1 is consisted of a plurality of thyristor modules 2, forward voltage photosignals detected by a light emitting element 8 of a module 2 is inputted to an ''or'' circuit 13 from an amplifier 12 as forward voltage signals (a1)- (a3) and an intensive forward voltage signal (b) are outputted. These signals are compared with a gate controlling signal (c) and when a forward voltage is detected within the period of time of the signal (c), a gate command (d) is outputted, and a narrow gate pulse signal (e) is generated by a command (d) at a pulse circuit 16. Thus, when the thyristor is turned off, for example, by an interrupted current in a valve voltage waveform (A) or (B), the turned off thyristor is reignited by a detected forward voltage signal (a3) and the breakage of the thyristor due to overage of withstand voltage of forward direction can be prevented.
