Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a gate power source, by distributing an electric signal changed from a firing instruction light pulse, to each thyristor depending on the polarity of the voltage across the anode and cathode of the thyristor. CONSTITUTION:A firing instruction light pulse signal common to thyristors 11, 12 is transmitted through a light transmission passage 7 by a control circuit 9 and a light emitter 8. The signal is changed into an electric signal by the light receiver 6 of a gate circuit 100. The electric signal is applied to a pulse generator 5. The polarity of the voltages across the anodes and cathodes of the thyristors 11, 12 is detected by a voltage polarity discriminator 110. For the duration of the forward polarity, a logic signal 1 is caused to appear on an output line a by the thyristor 11. For the duration of the backward polarity, a logic signal 1 is caused to appear on another output line b by the thyristor 11. The AND's of the output of the pulse generator 5 with the signals on the output lines a, b are taken by AND elements 131, 132 to supply gate currents to the thyristors 11, 12.
